Beatrix Farkas M.D. was earlier Associate Professor at the Department of Dermatology at Albert Szent-Györgyi University in Szeged, and chairman at the Department of Dermatology at the University of Pécs. She is currently chairman of the Department of Dermatology at the Central Hospital of the Hungarian Railways in Budapest and at the Dermatological Unit of the South-Danubian Center for Cooperation & Science. Prof. Farkas holds a medical degree, a Ph.D in dermatology (mycology) from Albert Szent-Györgyi University in Szeged and a D.Sc from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest. She is a specialist in dermatology and venereology, clinical immunology, clinical oncology and medical mycology. Her main areas of interest are dermatomycology, photoimmunology and skin pharmacology.
Beatrix Farkas is a member of several national and international medical associations, including: President of the German-Hungarian Dermatological Society, member of the board of the Hungarian Dermatological Society and Humboldt Foundation, as well as of the advisory and editorial boards of various medical journals and associations. She is strongly committed to dermatological research, and has been awarded numerous prizes for her work, including the Kaposi and Zoltan Fekete Awards of the Hungarian Dermatological Society, the Széchenyi P.F. Award and the German-Hungarian Dermatological Society’s Award. She has published 180 scientific papers on dermatology or medical mycology and 3 international patents e.g.: “Method of enhancing cellular production of molecular chaperone”.
